Our First IKF PKB Event – A Major Milestone for Fight Club Fitness

Fight Club Fitness, Birmingham Alabama Crew Responsibly holding our trophies after competing in the IKF PKB Point Kickboxing Tournament in Mobile, Alabama

Fight Club Fitness just had our first official kickboxing team event, and every single one of my students who showed up displayed that they were ready to represent Fight Club Fitness with heart, composure, and teamwork.

From the moment we arrived, I could tell that some were nervous and others anxious, but that’s what it’s all about. It’s about getting comfortable being uncomfortable. The safety net they had was their training, the confidence of knowing they could do this. Fight Club students also learned how it feels to corner for their teammates, manage real competition pressure, and stay calm under the spotlight — all skills that go far beyond the mats. Watching them apply what we practice every week in class to a live, high-intensity environment was a proud moment I’ll never forget.

The event was held by the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) and followed the PKB (Point Kickboxing) format, not like traditional karate point sparring, but full kickboxing bouts that look and feel real. The IKF has created a platform where students and schools can show up to test themselves, chase real goals, and use these events as stepping stones, whether to prepare for sanctioned bouts or simply challenge personal limits. The officials at this event were incredibly professional and friendly, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group to work with.

Our Fight Club classes have always been goal-oriented, but this event took that mindset to a whole new level. The students who competed now understand firsthand what it means to apply their training when it counts. From this point forward, training will never feel the same , every drill, combo, and sparring round now carries a deeper sense of purpose. Those who stepped onto the tournament floor can now bring that experience back home to the Fight Club mats and let it fuel their imagination every time they train.

As a coach, watching my team step up, take risks, and represent our gym with class and discipline filled me with pride. This was more than just an event, it was the start of something bigger for Fight Club Fitness.

To everyone who stepped into the ring, supported from the sidelines, or helped make this possible, thank you. You’ve set the tone for what’s next.
